5 Things You Need To Know

July 5th is the 187th day of the year. There are 179 days remaining until the end of the year.


All LCBOs stores are closed as thousands of workers hit the picket lines.

For the first time in Ontario history, workers at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario have walked off the job in a labour dispute

All physical LCBO stores are now closed for two weeks.

The LCBO said online sales and delivery continue, and wholesale accounts will still be honoured. However, limits have been placed on online orders.

If there is no agreement after two weeks, a select number of LCBO stores will reopen on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only, with reduced hours.


It’s Ribfest weekend in Chatham.

Ribfest will run in Tecumseh Park on Friday from 3 pm-11 pm, Saturday 11 am-11 pm and Sunday 11 am-6 pm.

Ribfest will feature over half a dozen ribbers along with vendors, live entertainment and a family activity zone.

There’s lots going on across CK to keep the kids busy this weekend.

CKRecreation will be hosting its first Beach Days of the summer. CKRec will bring the Play Pod out to Erieau & Mitchell’s Bay every Saturday & Sunday 11 am – 3 pm.

Meanwhile, as part the Summer Fest lineup, CKRec will also bring the Play Rangers, a drop-in game and activity program designed for the whole family, to Kingston Park in Chatham every Saturday from 11 am – 3 pm. 

Blenheim Children’s Festival is also this weekend. 

On Saturday from 9 am – 2 pm, bring the family out to Talbot Trail Place for a wide variety of interactive and free things for kids


The Canadian Tire Mitchell’s Bay Open is this weekend.

The 10th annual bass tournament takes place Friday and Saturday and is a live release bass tournament held on Lake St. Clair. Teams of two anglers compete for the highest weights and biggest fish over a two-day tournament.

The weigh-in begin at 3 p.m. at Mitchell’s Bay Marine Park and spectators are welcome to come watch for free.


Next time you visit Devonshire Mall in Windsor, it might look a little different. 

After closing its doors six years ago, the former Sears building is set to be demolished starting in the next two weeks. 

The two-storey former anchor store closed in January 2018 when  Sears Canada ended operations. It had been at Devonshire Mall since 1970
