Gregory Drive Public School will host a Giant Rummage Sale Fundraiser this weekend.
On Saturday, at the school (180 Gregory Drive West) from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. stop by to have a look. There will be 1000’s of items with over 50 tables of merchandise. Concessions available and free Coffee provided by Tim Horton’s. Sale will be held in the front parking lot (will move into the gymnasium if it is raining)
Proceeds to raise money for the Grade 8 trip to Muskoka Woods Camp.
If you plan on catching a concert or a London Knights game anytime soon, you’d better bring plastic because Budweiser Gardens is going cashless.
The venue will be completely cashless beginning on September 27th. All transactions must be made through a credit or debit card or a mobile payment. That includes Apple Pay and Google Wallet.
The cashless approach is expected to speed up payment, reduce wait times for guests and offer a more secure transaction environment.
Beginning tomorrow Instagram is making teen accounts private by default. The social media platform is attempting to make itself safer for children, after growing backlash against how it affects young people’s lives.
Beginning Tuesday in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia, anyone under 18 who signs up for Instagram will be placed into restrictive teen accounts and those with existing accounts will be migrated over the next two months.
Meta (parent company) knows that teenagers may lie about their age and will require them to verify their ages. The company is building technology that finds teen accounts that pretend to be grownups and automatically places them into the restricted teen accounts.
The teen accounts will be private by default. Private messages are restricted so teens can only receive them from people they follow or are already connected to. Sensitive content will be limited. Teens will also get notifications if they are on Instagram for more than 60 minutes and a “sleep mode” will be enabled that turns off notifications and sends auto-replies to direct messages from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m.
While these settings will be turned on for all teens, 16 and 17-year-olds will be able to turn them off. Kids under 16 will need their parents’ permission to do so.
It’s the final week of the MLB season and the Detroit Tigers are putting on a playoff push.
A win yesterday gave the team their first winning season since 2016, they haven’t advanced to the postseason since 2014, a nine-year drought. Yesterday’s win moved the Tigers into an all-important tie for the second wild-card spot with six games remaining. Detroit is off tonight, beginning a series against Tampa tonight, then Chicago on Friday to wrap up the season at home.
After two straight seasons in the playoffs the Toronto Blue Jays will be watching from home next week. The Jays are last in their division and finish the season in Toronto against Boston tonight, and Miami on the weekend.
