U.S. Election Day is a week away.

The race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump is neck and neck and is expected to be until Election Day. The polls have been within the margin of error for months, last week some showed Trump with a razor-thin margin over Harris. The opposite seems to be true at the start of this week, as a new poll shows Harris leading nationally 51% to 47% with likely voters.

More than 41 million votes have already been cast in the election nationwide.

Food Banks Canada released the results of their annual survey of food bank use in Canada.

The HungerCount 2024 study shows that more than there were two million visits in March 2024 – nearly double the monthly visits five years ago in March 2019, and six per cent above last year’s record-breaking figure. Rapid inflation, housing costs and insufficient social supports are revealing new levels of poverty and food insecurity. Food banks are being pushed to the brink and low-income Canadians need help immediately.

The LA Dodgers are one win away from beating the New York Yankees and winning the World Series.

Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman made history with his first inning homerun. He becomes only the third player in World Series history to homer in each of the first three games of the Series. Both of Freeman’s parents were born in Canada. His father, Fred, was born in Windsor while his mother, Rosemary, is from Oshawa.

LA leads the series 3-0 after a 4-2 win in New York. Game 4 is tonight at 8:08 p.m. on Sportsnet.

It sounds like the McDonald’s broken McFlurry machine problem might finally be solved.

The fact that they’re always busted is such a well-known thing, there’s a website that tracks it called McBroken.com. At any given time, around 10% of McFlurry machines are down.

A company called Taylor makes those machines. And for years, they’ve been the only ones legally allowed to work on them. They owned the exclusive rights, so McDonald’s had no choice but to wait around for an official Taylor repairman to swing by. But now that’s changing after the U.S. Copyright Office just weighed in. They granted an exemption that gives companies like McDonald’s the “right to repair” those machines themselves. Third-party companies can show up and fix McFlurry machines across the U.S. The new rules just went into effect yesterday.

In Canada we don’t see the same problems, because McDonalds franchises in America are all mandated to use the same model.
