Astronauts on the International Space Station will be able to vote in today’s U.S. election thanks to a special high-tech encryption system. The ballots are only accessible by the astronauts and the clerk to protect each vote’s integrity. The crew has been stranded on the I.S.S. for several months due to a Boeing Starliner malfunction. They are not expected to come home until at least February.
The winner of the 2024 presidential election will be inaugurated on January 20, 2025.
In recognition of Remembrance Week the provincial government is giving veterans free access on weekdays to all provincial parks.
Veterans and active service members may take advantage of this program by presenting their valid Canadian Armed Forces identification card and proof of Ontario residency at the entrance of any provincial park. Free weekday entry also extends to loved ones accompanying a service member or veteran in the same vehicle.
This initiative honors the sacrifices made by Canadian men and women in uniform, both past and present, who have defended the country’s values of freedom and democracy.
