A massive bronze sculpture of Fergie Jenkins will be coming to Chatham-Kent.

This will be an exact replica of the statue unveiled outside Wrigley Field in May. The C-K version is scheduled to arrive next spring at the Chatham-Kent civic centre, a temporary home until a permanent location can be found.

An anonymous donor is paying all costs for the statue and its installation.

Jenkins pitched 10 of his 19 major league seasons with the Cubs. He retired after the 1983 season with a 284-226 record and 3,192 strikeouts. The 1971 Cy Young Award winner and seven-time 20-game winner was the first Canadian inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Fergie talked to CKMORNINGS about the honour…
