Birds of Prey (14A)
Margot Robbie returns as her “Suicide Squad” character Harley Quinn. The movie opens with an animated prologue that tells her back story. It also explains that she’s just had a messy break-up with the Joker and how a lot of people want to kill her now.
Ewan McGregor is the villain in this one. He’s a crime lord named Roman Sionis. Comic book fans know him as Black Mask. He’s after a stolen diamond etched with mob secrets and agrees not to kill Harley if she can get it back for him.
Chaos ensues and she eventually teams up with other people he wants dead . . . the Black Canary, the Huntress, a reluctant cop, and a pickpocket who grows up to be Batgirl in the comics.
