Parents, you’re going to need to adjust your calendars when it comes to the upcoming April PA Day for your students.
The Lambton-Kent District School Board and the St. Clair Catholic District School Board were originally scheduled to have a PA Day on April 26th, however that has been changed to April 8th.
The move was made to avoid “direct safety concerns” associated with students and bus drivers being on the road during the April solar eclipse. The eclipse is set to affect our area between 2 and 4:30 p.m. on April 8.
This weekend will be the first (of four) free fishing periods in Ontario this year.
This means you do not need to buy a fishing license if you want to fish during:
- Family Fishing Weekend (February 17–19, 2024)
- Mother’s Day Weekend (May 11–12, 2024)
- Father’s Day Weekend (June 15–16, 2024)
- Family Fishing Week (June 29–July 7, 2024)
During all other time periods, Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 64 years must purchase a valid fishing license to legally fish in Ontario.

It was created by three former PayPal employees – Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim.
Google bought it in November 2006 for $1.65 billion.
Jawed Karim uploaded the first YouTube video “Me at the zoo”.

Valentine’s Day is the most widely celebrated unofficial holiday in the world.
A few interesting facts…
- The Catholic Church recognizes at least 3 different saints named Valentine, all of whom were martyred, one for performing secret weddings for young lovers.
- Pope Gelasius declared February 14th “St Valentine’s Day” around 498 AD, in part to replace an ancient Roman fertility festival.
- About 1 billion Valentine cards are exchanged, making it the 3rd largest card-sending occasion after Christmas and Fathers Day. It’s also the 4th-biggest flower-selling occasion.
- Teachers receive the most Valentines Day cards, followed by school children, mothers, wives, and then sweethearts.
