Today is the Chinese New Year. It’s the Year of the Pig.

The exact date of the start of the Chinese New Year changes from year to year, as the traditional Lunar calendar doesn’t coincide with the Gregorian calendar.

If you were born in 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, or 2007 — you’re likely a Pig, according to the Chinese zodiac.

Chinese legend has it that the Jade Emperor — the head of the pantheon of Gods — summoned the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac to him, and the Pig showed up the latest. As a result, the Pig is the last animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac.

But if you’re a Pig, try not to get too caught up in the superstitions: The year of your animal sign is said to be dangerous for your luck.

This animal sign is said to be calmer in nature than most. People born under it are supposedly intelligent, sensitive, and artistic, but also realistic and well-mannered.

  • Pigs get along best with people born under the sign of the Rabbit or the Goat.
  • Pigs are least compatible with those under the sign of the Snake or the Monkey.

A staggering 18,818 cupcakes were used to erect the tower almost 42 feet high.

The attempters created the cake mixture, then baked, iced and decorated the cupcakes on site before placing them on the huge pyramid structure.

The record breaking attempt took almost 30 hours.
