Reminder that because of the Family Day holiday on Monday, garbage and recycling pick up is pushed back one day for the week.


Denny Hamlin won his third Daytona 500 yesterday, his second in a row to kick off the 2020 Nascar season.

The celebration was subdued, after a massive crash right at the finish line, driver Ryan Newman was sent to the hospital after going airborne. His car was on fire when it finally came to rest. Newman is in serious condition, but luckily, his injuries are not life-threatening. Despite crashing he finished in 9th.

The race was cancelled on Sunday due to rain and moved to Monday afternoon.


Great turn out at the 2nd Annual Soups On fundraiser on Monday.

Hundreds more turned out and the 3rd annual is already scheduled for Family Day 2021.

$8100 was raised in year one, and while totals are not in yet, organizers are hoping for over $10,000. Funds raised support the Salvation Army and Hope Haven.


A Japanese company is selling a do-it-yourself coffin kit in order to keep funeral costs down.

The kit contains a wooden coffin, a small metal urn, a silver box, a duvet set for the coffin, a funeral handbook and wrapping cloths. The do-it-yourself kit sells for $275 while funerals can cost as much as $13,700 on average.
