Contract talks with the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) and the Ford government will resume today.

If agreement is not reached, it’s been announced that the teachers will hold rotating strikes across the province next week.

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board (SCCDSB) is scheduled be affected on Monday, February 24th.

There is a province wide strike for the four major teacher unions this Friday, February 21st.


VIA Rail has announced service will resume tomorrow.

VIA made the announcement last night that all trains running between Toronto-London-Windsor, Toronto-Sarnia, and Toronto-Niagara will resume service Thursday morning. Partial service will resume with trains running between Québec City-Montréal-Ottawa during weekdays, and full service will be offered during weekends.

As of Tuesday, a total of 532 trains have been cancelled because of the blockades and more than 103,000 passengers have been affected.


A cargo ship delivered some treats to the International Space Station yesterday.

The nearly 4-ton shipment arrived at the orbiting lab Tuesday afternoon. Besides the usual experiments and gear, the capsule had cheddar and manchego cheeses, fresh fruit and vegetables, chocolate and three kinds of gummy candy expressly requested by the three station astronauts: Skittles, Hot Tamales and Mike and Ike’s to satisfy the astronauts’ cravings.


Beijing’s Central Bank is burning $600 million dollars in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus through dollar bills.

Other banks are disinfecting money with ultraviolet light and high temperatures, then locking them away for seven to 14 days

Banks have been urged to provide new banknotes to customers whenever possible. Fresh cash worth 600 billion yuan has been introduced for locations considered the epicenter for the COVID19 outbreak.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Covid-19 can be spread through contaminated objects in addition to droplets and direct contact with infected patients.
