5 Things You Need To Know

March 31st is the 90th day of 2021. There are 275 days remaining until the end of the year.

Chatham-Kent residents age 65+ (born in 1956 or earlier) can now book a vaccination appointment.

  • If your last name starts with A-M please call Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
  • If your last name starts with N-Z please call Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

To book an appointment, please call 519-351-1010 and leave a message. Messages can be left 24 hours a day and are returned Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 8:30pm (except for Statutory Holidays).

This new age bracket includes a large segment of our population. It may take a few days before your call is returned.

Five new positive COVID-19 cases reported Tuesday Chatham-Kent Public Health.

There were 15 recoveries, bring the total active cases to 80.

There were 2,336 positive cases reported in Ontario. It is the sixth straight day the province reports over 2,000 cases.

Spring Break will go ahead as planned, for now.

Education Minister Stephen Lecce said the government will let families know if recommendations from the province’s top doctor necessitate a change to the break scheduled for the week of April 12th.

The province decided earlier this year to delay the March break until April in an effort to curb COVID-19 cases, saying it wanted to discourage group gatherings and travel over that time.

Lecce did not discuss the prospect of moving learning online following spring break, but said the government is planning to step up safety protocols when students and staff return to in-class learning on April 19.

He said that plan will be announced in the coming days.

The NFL is adding a 17th regular-season game, beginning this coming season.

For the most part, the players won’t get any extra salary, yet, but they do get a guaranteed share of the NFL’s revenue, and the league will make plenty of money off this.

The 17th game will replace a preseason game, so there will be three preseason games instead of four. The regular season will still start at the same time, just after Labour Day and the season will go long, with the Super Bowl now scheduled for the middle of February.

For the upcoming season, Super Bowl 56 will be on February 13th.

The Blue Jays season begins tomorrow.

Like we told you last week, the Jays will begin playing home games in Florida to start the season, and there will be cardboard cut outs in the stands again when that starts.

Last week the Jays asked their fans who the Canadian celebs they’d like to see at the park.

The fans have voted, and here’s who they’ve come up with: Drake, Ryan Reynolds, Sandra Oh, Seth Rogan, The Weeknd, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Dan Levy, Annie Murphy, Lauren Ash, Geddy Lee and Giacomo Gianniotti.

The team said that if there’s another celeb you’d want to see, you should reply to the tweet and tag them.
