September 9th is the 252nd day of 2021. There are 113 days remaining until the end of the year.


Nineteen new positive COVID-19 cases reported Wednesday by Chatham-Kent Public Health.

There were 14 recoveries, the total active case count locally at 103. The last time there were more than 103 active COVID-19 cases in Chatham-Kent was back on March 24, 2021.

There are 554 new cases of COVID-19 across the province. 418 (75%) cases are in unvaccinated individuals.


There is a mobile vaccination clinics at KSR in Ridgetown today from 3-7.

Anyone 12 and older is welcome at the clinic.

The Talbot Trail Place Summer Concert Series continues tonight in Blenheim.

The Moondog Howlers take the stage at 7 in the park, there is no entry fee.

The English speaking leaders debate is tonight.

The participants for both the English and French-language debates include Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, Green Party Leader Annamie Paul and Bloc Quebecois Leader Yves-Francois Blanchet.

Maxime Bernier, People’s Party of Canada Leader, will not be participating in these debates as the party did not meet the criteria for qualification.

The debate will air on CBC, CTV and Global from 9-11pm. The French language debate will be tomorrow, there will be a separate English translation.

Canadians head to the polls on September 20th.


The NFL season officially kicks off tonight.

The first game will be between the Dallas Cowboys and reigning Super Bowl champs Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 8:20pm.

This season the league has expanded to a 17-game schedule for each of its 32 teams — up from the 16 in effect from 1978-2020. This will be the 102nd NFL season, it’ll wrap up with the Super Bowl in Los Angeles on February 13th.

The Detroit Lions will host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at 1.
