The GOJHL Sutherland Cup Round Robin began last night.

The Chatham Maroons dropped the opening game in overtime, 3-2 to St. Catherines Falcons.

Chatham hits the road tonight to play the Cambridge RedHawks at 7:40.

On Monday, the Maroons will host the RedHawks at Memorial Arena at 3pm.

The top two teams from the round robin will advance to a best-of-3 series to decide the Sutherland Cup champion.


Queen Elizabeth II made a surprise appearance on Tuesday at a train station in central London.

She was there to see a newly completed subway line named in her honour.

The 96-year-old monarch, who has reduced most of her public engagements after battling COVID and illness recently. She made her first public appearance in weeks on Friday when she attended the Royal Windsor Horse Show. Palace officials say she is experiencing “mobility problems” and has difficulties moving around.

Her public appearances are being closely watched as Britain prepares to celebrate the monarch’s 70 years on the throne with four days of Platinum Jubilee festivities June 2-5.


Gas prices in Ontario are going up 1 cent today on average.

Most major cities in the province are already at over $2 per litre at the pumps, and its predicted to go even higher before the long weekend.

Experts predict that prices will continue to rise into the Victoria Day long weekend, reaching $2.10 per litre.

The higher prices come in part because of supply chain disruptions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as well as high demand due to the re-opening of the economy.

Last year at this time, the average price in Ontario was $1.26 per litre.


Elon’s mom, Maye Musk, is a cover model for the 2022 Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.

Sports Illustrated revealed that the Regina-born model, dietitian and author is a cover model for the 2022 swimsuit issue along with Kim Kardashian, Ciara and Yumi Nu.

At 74 years old, Musk is the oldest woman to appear on the cover in the magazine’s entire 58-year history.
