The Chatham-Kent Film Group will screen Riceboy Sleeps tonight at Movie Night at the Capitol Theatre.

Showings at 4 and 7pm. Admission is $10 and tickets can be purchased at the door.

The C-K Film Group screens independant films the first Monday of the month. The next film screening will be held on Monday, July 3rd.


The 2023 Festival of Giving was a huge success Saturday night.

Sponsored by Teksavvy at Sons of Kent the event was a fundraiser for YWHO – Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario formerly ACCESS Open Minds.

You can still support with the online auction live at FestivalofGiving.ca, it closes Wednesday at noon.

You can also purchase the FoG POG while supplies last, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the festival.


Festival of Giving hosts, Sons of Kent, were busy on Saturday night picking up three Canadian Brewing Awards in Halifax.

The local brewery brought home a second place finish in the Barrel Aged Imperial Stout and English Style IPA categories. Also grabbing the bronze in New England Style IPA style.


Apple is expected to unveil an ambitious new hardware product during its annual developer event.

Experts believe it’ll be a “mixed reality” headset that offers both virtual reality and augmented reality, a technology that overlays virtual images on live video of the real world. The highly anticipated release of an AR/VR headset would be Apple’s biggest hardware product launch since the debut of the Apple Watch in 2015.

Australian James Webb won the World Donut Eating Championship on Friday.

He downed 59.5 donuts in eight minutes. James beat Joey Chestnut’s record by 4.5 donuts. He won a championship belt and $1000.

The event was also an attempt to raise money throughout the day for the Salvation Army, raising funds and awareness for programs that serve veterans in need.

James says practices for his competitions by eating 10,000 calories a day.
