The Perseids Meteor Shower peaks this Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. But the full moon will interfere with your viewing.

Now you won’t see as many meteors as you would in a dark, moon-free sky at the peak, but you should be able to see a bit of a show before the weekend. The shower is often best before dawn.

Considered one of the strongest and brightest meteor showers, the Perseids occur from mid-July to late August as the Earth passes through a trail of icy debris left behind by a comet. The meteor shower gets its name from the constellation Perseus that the meteors appear to be falling from.

As many as 50 to 80 meteors can pass by the night sky per hour during the peak of the Perseids.
