The 2023 Cannes Film Festival opens in France today and runs through May 27.

The Cannes Film Festival is an annual event that celebrates international cinema and brings together filmmakers, actors, producers, distributors and critics from all over the world.

One of these four teams will win the 2023 Stanley Cup: Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars, Florida Panthers or Carolina Hurricanes.

The Vegas Golden Knights (have never won a cup, only been around since 2018) take on the Dallas Stars (won the cup in 1999) in the Western Conference Finals. Series begins on Thursday.

The Carolina Hurricanes (won the cup in 2006) will play the Florida Panthers (have never won the cup, been in the leage for 30 years) in the Eastern Conference Finals. Game 1 Friday.

There is an immediate need for new and existing donors.

Canadian Blood Services has started the Shine the Light campaign.

According to Canadian Blood Services, “the main reason people don’t donate is because they feel no one has ever asked them to. That’s why we’re shining a light on this situation and calling on those who haven’t donated before to make that appointment – whether it is today, next week, or as soon as you can.”

Donor numbers took a hit, dropping significantly during the pandemic, now more than 100,000 new donors are needed every single year to keep up with the demand.

The campaign will run for six weeks with activities coast-to-coast culminating on World Blood Donor Day in lighting up more than 60 landmarks across the country.

The next clinic locally is May 24 at the Portuguese Canadian Club. Book your appointment now at Blood.ca, call 1-888-2-DONATE or use the apps.

McDonald’s has launched a new McFlurry last week called the Confetti Cookie Dough McFlurry.

The vanilla soft serve is infused with candy confetti dots and cookie dough.

The dessert is available for a limited time, in Canada only. Americans are calling for McDonald’s to serve the dessert in the States with no luck, so far. (Odd to be on this side of the story for once!)
