We’re turning another corner when it comes to that Summer forecast this week, according to Environment Canada.
Sunshine expected all week, and temperatures in the high 20’s. Up to 29 today, and expecting that to continue right into the weekend.
After having last week off, Chatham-Kent Council returns to council chambers tonight with a couple of interesting discussions:
1) The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is looking to buy a mobile stage to roll to different events across the area.
The mobile stage is an easily assembled and dismantled portable stage that can be transported and set up in various locations. The “Showmobile” is expected to be delivered in October if council approves it.
2) Council will be asked to authorize negotiations for a lease and profit-sharing agreement with Aqua City for the proposed inflatable water park at Erieau Beach.
3) Councillors will also be debating the use of demarcation buoys in Erieau to keep swimmers and watercraft separated or going with a designated swimming area and roping-off a space in the water for recreational swimming.
Céline Dion announced that she is cancelling all of her Courage world tour shows for this year and into 2024 due to health issues.
In December 2022 she revealed that she has “stiff person syndrome,” which is a condition characterized by sudden severe muscle spasms. The spasms affect her daily life, make it difficult to walk and prevented her from using her vocal cords to sing the way she’s used to.
Dion had completed the first 52 dates of the Courage world tour in North America before but paused it in March 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fans who purchased tickets for the now cancelled shows will be refunded the costs via the original point of sale.
The Boston Celtics are making things interesting in the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals. The Miami Heat won the first 3 games and looked to be on their way to the final, but the Celtics have won three in a row and will play Game 7 at home tonight. Tip off is at 8:30 on TSN.
No team in NBA history has ever won a playoff series after being 0-3 down.
The winner will play the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals, beginning on Thursday.

It’s Memorial Day in the U.S.
It’s a day for honouring the men and women who have died while on duty with the U.S. military and it is a day where Americans across the country pay their respects, often by visiting military cemeteries or memorials.
The holiday is observed on the last Monday of May.
